Barzani Receives US Ambassador in Erbil
ERBIL - Kurdish leader and former president of the Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, received on Wednesday a US delegation headed by Ambassador to Baghdad Douglas Silliman to discuss the latest political developments in Iraq and the region.

During the meeting, where the US Consul General in Erbil Steven Fagin was also present, the western country's ambassador hailed the role of Barzani and Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in hosting nearly 2 million IDPs and Syrian refugees in the past few years.

The US official also briefed Barzani with Washington's latest policies and strategies in fighting against the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq.

Concerning the formation of a new government in Baghdad, the influential Kurdish leader reiterated that they expect the new cabinet to consist of a true partnership, consensus, and balance in power and that this is what the Kurds are looking for in Baghdad as they believe that any disputes between the federal and regional governments could be solved through the three principles.
