Prime Minister Barzani receives U.S. military delegation
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received Major General Sean M. Jenkins, Chief Office of U.S. Security Coordination in Iraq and Steven Fagin US Consul-General to the Kurdistan Region with their accompanying delegation.

The delegation thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government, particularly the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs for their cooperation, coordination and assistance. They highly valued the recent Peshmerga forces’ military operations against ISIS and stressed the importance of continuing engagement between Peshmerga and Iraqi forces to eliminate threats of terrorism with the support of the coalition forces.

The delegation also expressed their readiness to provide support to the current reform of the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked the United States and all coalition forces for their military support to the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga. He hoped it would continue, especially in reforming and reorganizing the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs to improve its effectiveness.

He also stressed coordination and cooperation between Peshmerga and Iraqi forces with the support of the coalition forces will help prevent resurgence of threats to the region.

The political and security situations in Iraq and the wider region were also discussed.
