Christian Village Evacuating in Fear of Turkish Airstrikes on Kurdistan Border
ERBIL — Turkish jets continue bombarding Kurdistan Region’s border villages which are being evacuated as civilian casualties are highly possible.

Anderyos Yohanna, a resident of the Christian village of Merke, told BasNews that his village and its surrounding areas are being constantly pounded by the Turkish jets, and the people gradually leave to save their lives.

He noted that dozens of families have already left the village, and the rest are preparing to escape.

The Turkish airstrikes allegedly target the positions belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), but are often damaging civilian properties or causing casualties among villagers living near the border.
