ERBIL - The US House of Representatives has passed a bill in which a total of $ 290 million from the Pentagon budget, has been dedicated to support the Kurdish Peshmerga forces.

The massive spending bill, known as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the initial version of which lacked specific mention of the Kurdish forces, was amended by Rep. Ralph Abraham (R. Louisiana) for the significant role of the Peshmerga during the fight against the Islamic State (IS) in the past few years, Kurdistan 24 reported.

The NDAA has also prevented the Iranian-backed militias of Hashd al-Shaabi in Iraq from any access to the US equipment.
