One Civilian Killed in Protests South of Iraq
ERBIL — At least one civilian was killed on Sunday after protests in Iraq’s southern province of Basra turned violent.

According to Iraqi media reports, four other people were wounded in clashes with security forces who tried to disperse the crowd.

The people in the oil-rich Basra province were protesting the lack of public services and high rate of unemployment in their region.

Local sources claimed the casualties were the result of direct police fire.
