Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received UNHCR Director of the Middle East and North Africa Bureau and Regional Refugee Coordinator, Mr. Amin Awad, the UNHCR representative in Iraq, Mr. Bruno Geddo and their accompanying delegation.

Mr. Awad thanked the people and government of the Kurdistan Region for receiving and hosting a large number of displaced persons and refugees and providing them with the necessary assistance and services.

He highlighted UNHCR's plans to help the displaced persons to return to their homes and improve the conditions of refugees in the camps.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked the UNHCR for its efforts in delivering assistance to displaced people and refugees and their coordination and cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s institutions.

He expressed KRG’s readiness to provide any assistance and coordination with the Iraqi government and UNHCR to help the displaced to return to their places of origin after confirming security and stability in their areas.

The delegation highly valued the assistance and facilities provided by the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region and expressed their appreciation.
