On official invitation from the Turkish government, KRG Prime Minister Nechirvan will visit Ankara on Monday.

Barzani is expected to attend parliament, the presidential palace in Ankara, and Anitkabir — the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.


The premier of Kurdistan congratulated Erdogan on his reelection in Turkey's June 24th presidential and parliamentary elections during a phone call last week. The Turkey is undergoing substantial changes following last year's constitutional referendum and the elections, notably transforming into a presidential form of government.

It is the first visit following the Kurdistan Region's independence referendum in October 2017. Turkey never closed its borders with the Kurdistan Region after the vote.



Barzani last visited Erdogan in Istanbul in April 2017.
