Iranian Kurdish Female Inmate on Hunger Strike
ERBIL — An Iranian Kurdish woman named Hajar Piri who has been imprisoned by Iran over political reason recently started a hunger strike.

Piri has been imprisoned by the Iranian regime for over 9 years without being allowed any family or media visits.

The Kurdish Hengaw Human Rights News reported that the Kurdish inmate has been on hunger strike since January 2, 2017, demanding to be transferred to a better prison.

Piri is a 33-year-old woman from Naghada city in Iran's Kurdish region and was arrested by the Iranian intelligence agency in 2007 on charges of membership with a Kurdish political party. She was later sentenced to 17 years imprisonment. Ever since, she has not been allowed any family or media visits.

According to reports, more than 10 Kurdish female activists are serving in jails in Iran.
