Sinjar Official Seeks Kurdistan Leadership Assistance to Oust PKK
SINJAR — Head of Sinjar Council urged Kurdistan Region's leadership to set a deadline for the withdrawal of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) forces from Sinjar or expect further unrest in Sinjar.

Speaking to BasNews on Saturday, Wais Naif, said that the PKK has spread its guerrillas in the Yezidi town and does not intend to pull out from it.

"Every day they come in tinted glass vehicles and their forces move in Sinjar, setting up checkpoints and questioning even the Kurdish Peshmerga forces," said Naif.

He warned that the PKK leaders in Sinjar do not even listen to their top officials who have demanded them to withdraw from the district and thus predicted "further unrest."

PKK took the route to Sinjar after the Islamic State (IS) invaded the town in August 2014, and their stay there has created security concerns.

Kurdistan Region and US officials have urged the party to leave Sinjar, so that the state-run establishments are re-founded in the town and the IDPs return to their homes.

Some PKK leaders have clearly stated that they refuse to leave Sinjar while other have indicated that it's only a matter of time and coordination with the Kurdistan Region officials to withdraw from Sinjar.
