ERBIL — Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani has reiterated that Erbil is always committed to the cooperations with Baghdad to eradicate Islamic State (IS) in Iraq.



Barzani on Saturday met with Ján Kubiš, the Special Representative of UN Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), discussing the latest political and security developments in the country, including the tensions in Iraqi parliament.



Kubiš previously held a videoconference with UN Security Council on Friday and urged all Iraqi political factions to settle down their disputes and find a solution to the political crisis faced by the country.



He said during the videoconference that there is an urgent need to make progress in intercommunity relations, including between Baghdad and Erbil.



Barzani ensured the chief of UNAMI that Kurdistan Region is ready to further cooperate with the central government as part of multilateral efforts to defeat IS in the country.
