Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani participated at the opening ceremony of the American University Duhok Kurdistan, in the city of Duhok on Monday. In the presence of a large gathering of local and international officials and dignitaries including the University’s staff, the President delivered remarks about the importance of education and capacity building for the future of this country.

“I am pleased to here in the opening ceremony to this university. This is a big achievement for the people of Kurdistan who are also today remembering the anniversary of the birth of Mulla Mustafa Barzani and also the 25th anniversary of the popular uprising of the people of this city,” said the President. He also thanked Michael Mulnix, the President of the University and Masrour Barzani, chairman of the University’s board of trustees for their efforts in establishing this university.

In his remarks, the President also talked about the reform plans that have been announced and reiterated that no crisis or challenge will stop the KRG in implementing those reforms.
