Russia's FM warns of the dangers of 'chemical terrorism'
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned on Tuesday that the threat of "chemical terrorism is emerging as a grave reality of our time."

He made the remarks while at a disarmament conference in the Swiss city of Geneva. He proposed that a new United Nations disarmament forum be established to deal with this new threat.

"It is necessary to remember that the Chemical Weapons Convention does not fully resolve the problem," of non-state terrorist actors using chemical weapons, he warned according to Reuters.

He also added that Moscow does "not see enough grounds to claim that the existent norms of international law are sufficient."

The Islamic State (ISIS) has used chemical weapons in the past in both Iraq and Syria. In one incident last August they attacked Kurdish Peshmerga soldiers with mustard gas.

Syria previously had a large stockpile of chemical weapons, including Sarin gas. The bulk of which was removed from the country under international inspection and rendered inert following a United Nations Security Council agreement following the deadly gas attack in Damascus in August 2013 which was blamed on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
