Prime Minister Barzani and Turkish Prime Minister discuss bilateral relations
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - On an official visit to Turkey, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani yesterday met Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu in Istanbul.

The two sides discussed recent developments in the region and relations between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey, particularly economic and commercial ties.

Prime Minister Davutoğlu described the relations between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region as strategic and most significant. He reaffirmed his country’s support to the Region.

Prime Minister Barzani emphasized that the Kurdistan Region endeavors to build good relations with the world in general and with Turkey in particular. He expressed his gratitude for Turkey’s support and in the war against terrorism and its assistance in accommodating scores of refugees and internally displaced persons.

The recent closing of the border between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey was discussed. Prime Minister Davutoğlu said efforts would be exerted to secure the border and normalise trade movement.
