Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani today welcomed visiting Canadian National Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan in Salahaddin.

The President and the Canadian defense Minister reviewed the campaign against ISIS terrorists, and the support of Canadian military trainers to peshmerga forces. President Barzani expressed his gratitude to Canadian people and government for supporting the Kurdistan Region peshmerga forces.

The Canadian Defense Minister praised the bravery of the peshmerga forces, and the leadership role of President Barzani in this campaign, and pledged continued Canadian assistance to the peshmerga forces. He also lauded the leadership of President Barzani and the KRG for taking in large numbers of Syrian refuges and IDPs from other parts of Iraq.
