Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani met with the UK Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Frank Baker, in his office is Salahaddin today. The President and the UK Ambassador shared views on the military campaign against ISIS, relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and the political and economic challenges in Kurdistan and in Iraq.

Ambassador Baker conveyed the congratulations of the UK Prime Minister and his government for the successful operation by peshmerga to liberate the town of Sinjar from ISIS last month. He said the UK will continue to support the peshmerga forces.

President Barzani and the UK Ambassador agreed that following recent gains by peshmerga forces, ISIS is on the retreat, and that with proper planning it can be pushed back even further.

They also discussed the political and economic developments in Kurdistan, in particular the pressing economic situation that needs urgent attention.
