Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani yesterday received the Iraq Defence Minister, Mr. Khaled Al-Obaidi and his accompanying delegation.

Minister Al-Obaidi congratulated Prime Minister Barzani, the people of the Kurdistan Region and particularly the people of Sinjar on the liberation of the city by Peshmerga forces, describing the achievement as a victory for all Iraqis.

The situation on the frontline against the Islamic State terrorist organisation, ISIS, was discussed, including continual coordination between the Iraqi military and the Peshmerga forces.

Prime Minister Barzani reiterated willingness of the Kurdistan Regional Government to fully cooperate and coordinate with the Iraqi military.

The two sides discussed the plan of liberation of Mosul and its importance for all Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region.
Prime Minister Barzani reiterated the KRG’s willingness to support the liberation of Mosul, which would mark an important development for Iraq and Kurdistan Region.

Participation of the United States military and other coalition forces in the operation of Mosul was also discussed.
It was stressed that political stability and development of the Kurdistan Region offer further stability to Iraq.
