‘Terrorism does not stop at borders’, US ambassador tells FRANCE 24
US Ambassador to France Jane Hartley spoke to FRANCE 24 on Sunday, two days after deadly terrorist attacks in Paris killed at least 129 people, underscoring a message of French-American solidarity.

"This is not just an attack on Paris, on the people that live in Paris, but it is truly an attack on humanity," Ambassador Hartley said, reiterating a sentiment expressed earlier by President Barack Obama in the aftermath of the attacks.

Asked what kind of support the US was offering to the French, she told FRANCE 24, "Well I know we're working closely with the French and really, since minutes after the attack, our government has been involved. I personally have been in contact with the ministry of interior, with the Elysée [presidential palace]; our Secretary [of State John] Kerry has been as well."

"We are here to work with the French, to support the French", particularly with regard to law enforcement, she added.

Hartley went on to note that terrorism remains a global threat.

"As we’ve seen over the last few weeks – the Russian airliner, the attack on Beirut – we all have to start thinking that we’re in this together. This terrorism does not stop at borders and it can happen anywhere."
