Prime Minster Barzani and Turkish Foreign Minister discuss regional situation
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received Turkish Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioğlu and his accompanying delegation.

Minister Sinirlioğlu discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region and the recent regional developments, stressing the strengthening of relations in all fields, particularly in the war against terrorism.

He said Turkey considers the Kurdistan Region as a leader of peace and stability in the region, calling for further strengthening of relations and cooperation as it would benefit the region overall.

Prime Minister Barzani congratulated the Turkish people on conducting parliamentary elections successfully, hoping the new Turkish government will be formed soon and the Turkey’s relationship with the Kurdistan Region will grow even further.

Prime Minister Barzani discussed the Kurdistan Region’s security, economic, and political situation including internal issues, noting that political differences will be resolved through dialogue and negotiations.

He highlighted the achievements and courage of Peshmerga forces in the war against the Islamic State terrorist organisation, ISIS, and noted the need for further support from the Kurdistan Region’s friends, particularly at a time of accommodating an extraordinary number of refuge seekers in the midst of severe financial constraints.
