Salahadin, Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (Krp.org)- President Masoud Barzani received a German defense delegation headed by the Minister of Defense, Ms. Ursula von der Leyen. During the meeting President Barzani warmly welcomed Ms. Leyen and the accompanying delegation and stated that the support from Germany in the past year and a half has helped the Kurdistan Region on a multitude of levels in our war against the terrorists of the Islamic State. President Barzani also stated that that the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Germany has been further strengthened due to Germany's commitment to eradicating the threat of terrorism.

Ms. Layen stated that the German government has, in the past year and a half seen in the Peshmerga forces a dependable ally for which she demonstrated her appreciation. The German Minister of Defense also complimented the coordination efforts between the Peshmerga forces and the allies in the war against terrorism. Support for the Kurdistan Region, Ms. Layen stated will continue and the ultimate aim of the free world is the complete riddance of the terrorists of the Islamic State.

President Barzani and Ms. Layen reviewed the recent military advances in Iraq and in the Kurdistan Region and spoke of the upcoming operations to liberate the remaining territories from the hands of the terrorists.
