Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani met with UK Government’s Minister of State for Cabinet Oliver Letwin in his office in Salahaddin to discuss bilateral relations, the fight against ISIS, and political developments in Kurdistan and in Iraq.

Oliver Letwin praised the democratic process in the Kurdistan Region and the role of the peshmerga forces in taking the fight to ISIS terrorists, and pledged continued UK support to the peshmerga.
President Barzani thanked the UK government’s support as part of the international coalition. He said that with the support of the UK and other coalition members, the peshmerga have been able to push back ISIS terrorists.

On the political situation in Kurdistan, the President stated that the political developments in Kurdistan will be addressed through democratic means and added that everyone must be rest assured that the political process will not allow for any undesirable consequences. He said that the most important thing is that the peshmerga and security forces will not get involved in these political disputes.
