Turkish jets over Kurdistan worry villagers who fear more airstrikes
SORAN, Kurdistan Region – Turkish aircraft flying over the Kurdistan region’s Qandil mountains have led to worries among villagers who fear more air raids, officials from bordering villages told Rudaw on Thursday.

Three Turkish jets were spotted over the villages of Enza, Lewzha, Bole, Kurtak, Zargali and Bukrisan, they said, adding that the planes have not conducted any strikes so far.

Turkish air force jets and artillery have pounded PKK camps, including three in the Qandil mountains, since the rebels claimed responsibility for killing two army officers in late July, ending a 2013 ceasefire in a three-decade conflict.

The Iraqi government has condemned the Turkish airstrikes in its north.

The Qandil airstrikes have devastated more than just the PKK. Hundreds of villagers have lost farmland and property. Many were forced to evacuate their homes.
