ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — A prominent Turkish nationalist has criticized remarks made by Kurdistan region President Masoud Barzani condemning Monday’s Suruc suicide bombing in Turkey.

Muysser Yildiz, of the 21st Century Foundation affiliated with the far-right Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), dinged Barzani Tuesday on the nationalist ODA TV station for using the terms “Northern Kurdistan” to refer to southeastern Turkey and “Pirsus,” the Kurdish name for Suruc, in his condemnation of the bombing.

Thirty-two students and civil activists in the predominately Kurdish border town of Suruc near the Syrian border were killed in the bombing.

Yildiz said he was confused by Barzani’s use of “Northern Kurdistan” and “Pirsus,” and claimed neither location actually existed in Turkey
