Kobani refugees return home as Kurds drive out ISIS
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Hundreds of people decided to return home on Sunday after Kurdish fighters of the People's Protection Units (YPG) cleared the Syrian Kurdish town of Kobani from ISIS jihadis.

A series of AFP photos show the first group of Kurds on their way back home from Turkey, despite the ruins ISIS made inside Kobani late last week.

ISIS launched a surprise attack on Kobani Thursday, massacring civilians, including women and children. The militants were eventually driven out by the YPG Saturday.

Thursday's attack was the second major assault against the Kurdish town since last year, and resulted in more than 200 civilian deaths.
