The Secretary of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Politburo Fazil Mirani, in a ceremony held in Erbil on the anniversary day of Gulan Revolution, talked about the political process in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region and the current security situation in the area.

At first Mirani thanked the organizers of the ceremony in which over 1000 new KDP members introduced.

Mirani made comparisons between Kurdish status in the past and the current time.

"We have to thank God as we have been rescued from the evil actions of Arabization, murdering and bombardment of former Baath Regime. Kurds currently have their own government and parliament.

In the past the word of "Kurd" was not allowed to be used, but nowadays the international leaders receive our president and put Kurdish flag beside their own ones," said Mirani
In Mirani's perspective, gaining achievements is important, but keeping the achievements is more important.

"Our tasks of keeping the achievements are more vital than the duties of those who gained the achievements."

Regarding the current fighting against Islamic State (ISIS), Mirani said "We are against killing and revolutionaries.

What is ISIS doing is evil. Kurds have to have enough strong will so that they can exist and in order to exist they have to face the threats.

This is all for the sake of keeping the achievements,"
Mirani attributed the current security condition to the bad administration of Iraqi government, since another dictatorship regime was formed after the fall of Saddam Hussein.

Concerning Kurdish Independence question, Mirani said "Kurds have rights to have their own independent country like many others.

Why a country like Bahrain which is smaller than Erbil city should be treated as a country but Kurdistan is not? Why it is normal for only 300,000 people to have a country called Qatar, but it is not normal for us to have a country?"

"Kurds never had strong chances as they have now for declaring independence. Syria and Iraq are not countries any more. Turkey and Iran are busy with their own issues.

But we need to agree on conducting referendum first. Most of the countries in the areas do not stand against our wills since we have mutual interests with each others. "
