Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (Krp.org)- President Masoud Barzani received a delegation headed by Mr. Mikhael Bogdanov, Russian President’s Middle East envoy. During the meeting President Barzani and Mr. Bogdanov discussed the latest political and military developments in the Kurdistan Region and in Iraq. The two sides also spoke of Russia’s role in assisting the Kurdistan Region in its current war against the terrorists of the Islamic State.

Additionally the meeting also included a ceremony for the publication of an academic research under the title of “Storied Land: Kurdish Culture Through the Eyes of Russian Scholars.” The publication highlights the role of Russian manuscripts on Kurdish culture from the late 19th and early 20th century. The publication, the President stated will likely serve as a new academic discipline for oriental scholars who will further explore Kurdish ethnography.

The ceremony was attended by a number of Russian diplomats in Iraq and in the Kurdistan Region, as well as a number of local and international academics.
