PM Barzani supports close collaboration between Soran and Leicester Universities
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, yesterday received President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester, Professor Paul Boyle and the President of Soran University, Dr. Muslih Mustafa.

Professor Boyle pointed out the collaboration between Leicester and Soran Universities, stressing that both universities’ have close vision to academic and scientific development, which has been in the origin of launching joint scientific projects between the two sides.

Opening a language centre and a Natural Resources Research Centre are among those projects that have been agreed between the two universities.

The President of Leicester University briefed the Prime Minister about the joint projects that he discussed during his meetings with Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism; related to development plans as well as protection of ancient and cultural heritage sites in Kurdistan Region.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed his support for the joint road map that has been signed between the two universities. He said that such cooperation will help the universities in Kurdistan Region to raise their scientific level.
