Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Representing Kurdistan Region President, Masoud Barzani, and upon an official invitation by the Republic of Turkey, yesterday Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani and his accompanying delegation, alongside with leaders and official delegations from sixty countries attended the ceremony which was held in Turkey to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Çanakkale.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and a number of Turkish high-ranking officials and figures.

The battle took place in Çanakkale peninsula, during World War I, between the Othman Empire and Allied forces on 23 April 1915.

The message of the ceremony was to express commitment of the nations in the region and the world to peace, coexistence and preventing reoccurrence of disastrous wars.
