Lufthansa to resume Flights to Erbil
German Consul General expressed his sorrow for the victims of last week’s blast in Ainkawa district of Erbil, praising the role of the Kurdistan Regional Government, KRG, and the security forces, who arrested the perpetrators in a short period of time. He also thanked the Prime Minister for the support that the KRG is offering to the German School in Erbil.
The German Consul General also expressed his gratitude to the Kurdistan Region for the warm welcome the German Parliament delegation received when it visited the Region last week. He reiterated German government’s support for the Kurdistan Region and increasing military aids for the Peshmerga Forces.
In the meeting, Mr. Lamle stated that the German Lufthansa airline flights to Erbil, which was recently suspended, will resume soon.
Prime Minister Barzani expressed his government’s gratitude for the German support, urging for the continuation of military aid, training and humanitarian assistance.
He also expressed his satisfaction for Lufthansa’s resuming flights to Erbil, and reassured that Kurdistan Region support for the German School in Erbil will continue.
Prime Minister Barzani briefed the Consul General about Kurdistan Region’s relations with the Iraqi Federal Government, saying that KRG continues its efforts to strengthen those relations.
He pointed out that the current oil production in Kurdistan Region has reached a satisfactory level, stressing that the KRG will work to increase the production level, and settle the differences, related to this issue, between Erbil and Baghdad.
Prime Minister Barzani also briefed the Consul Genera about the financial difficulties that the region is going through and the recent development in the fight against the Islamic State terrorist organization, ISIS, and the daily victories that the Peshmerga Forces achieve on the battlefront.
