Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (Krp.org)- President Masoud Barzani held a meeting with the Commander of the United States Central Command, General Lloyd Austin along with a number of U.S. military and diplomatic personnel. General Austin started by expressing his condemnation of the terrorist attack last Friday in Erbil and added that the Islamic State cannot alter the morale of the Peshmerga forces who have demonstrated their bravery through the military victories against the terrorists in the past eight months.

President Barzani and General Austin discussed the current military situation in Iraq in general and in the Kurdistan Region in particular. The President emphasized on the great role of the United States ad other coalition partners for their support of the Kurdistan Region against the terrorists of the Islamic State, adding that that gratitude is shared by the leadership and people of the Kurdistan Region.

General Austin and President Barzani expressed optimism in the matter of the ultimate defeat of the terrorists in the near future i, stating that the terrorists are already showing great signs of weakness.
