Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani met with leaders and representatives of Kurdistan Region’s main political parties in Salahaddin today to discuss a number of issues including the status of the fighting against the ISIS terrorists, the political developments in Kurdistan and in Iraq, the planned upcoming official visit by the President to Washington D.C, the draft constitution of the Kurdistan Region and the issue of the presidency of the Region.

In his remarks, the President underlined the importance of unity among the political parties on key issues, and said that agreement on both the draft constitution and the presidency should be addressed by the Iraqi Kurdistan Parliament and the political parties for finalization.

The participants of the meeting hailed the bravery and sacrifices if the peshmerga forces in the fight against ISIS and reiterated their full support for the peshmerga and their welfare. They also commended the President Barzani’s leadership and supervision of the front lines in this fight, and thanked the international coalition for their military support for the peshmerga.

The participants emphasized the importance of continued dialogue with Baghdad to strengthen relations and to implements the recently agreed deal between the two sides.
