Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani today met with French Ambassador to Iraq Marc Barety to discuss bilateral relations and the political and security developments in the country.

Ambassador Barety said France is committed to continue to support Kurdistan peshmerga forces with military aid and training as part of the international coalition against the ISIS terrorists. He added that together with his country’s consul general in Erbil, they will aim to further strengthen bilateral ties with the KRG.

President Barzani thanked President Hollande and the French people for their steadfast support to the peshmerga in the fight against terrorism. He said the people of Kurdistan greatly appreciate this support from the French people and government who have always been there in trying times for our people.

The President also hailed the historic visit by President Hollande to Erbil in September 2014 as a sign of support and solidarity with our people in the face of terrorism.
