ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The Italian government will train Iraqi police in cities and towns that have been recaptured from the Islamic State, a source from the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said.

“A special Italian team will visit Baghdad in a few days to discuss the special courses planned to be given to Iraqi police by Italian security specialists,” the source told Rudaw on Tuesday.

The program, which aims to boost the skills of local police in order to restore stability, follows a recent visit to Italy by Iraqi Minster of Defense Mohammed Salem al-Ghabban to strengthen bilateral relations.
