Americans can help Kurdistan Fight ISIS for Freedom one coat at a time
by Kevin Fobbs

WASHINGTON, January 5, 2015 – Standing up for freedom is something that many Americans do not take lightly, and nearly a world away the Kurds are not taking their freedom lightly either. Faced with the continuous onslaught of death through beheadings and decimation of their families and cities by the terrorist extremists known as ISIS, the Kurdistan area of Iraq remains defiant.

But defiance has a price and far too many fathers, mothers and yes children are paying that tragic price. Americans can help stave off the escalating holocaust by joining the ‘‘Coats4Kurdistan’ humanitarian one coat at a time.

Their need and their dilemma is tremendous, according to ‘Coats4Kurdistan’ the UN and Iraqi government has reported that 2.5 million refugees (Muslims, Jews and 400,000 Christians) have fled the safety of their homes throughout Iraq seeking a safe haven in Kurdistan. They have been threatened by Al Qaeda since 2007 and ISIS since 2013. Their need for clothing and supplies is essential for their survival.

The ‘Coats4Kurdistan’ campaign is actually one essential and potentially lifesaving way that Americans can do something that governments cannot and that is to show compassion. You remember how excited your child was at receiving his or her Christmas present over the holidays.

You felt special because your child received something precious that they wanted. ‘Coats4Kurdistan’ is exactly like that, except that your support will give a child a coat, clothing, and other essentials that are not “wants” but “needs.

The harsh reality they face living on mountain tops and in decimated city streets is that ISIS is counting on the Kurds in Iraq to become frightened and submit or die. They strike home their intention in pointing to the beheading of westerners from America and Britain.

They insist they suffered no real consequences, and America and Britain’s military leaders cannot stop them.

Death through intimidation and ruling by Islamic religious terrorism is what they count on in eliminating Kurdish opposition. ISIS also is seemingly counting on the Kurds plight disappearing from the United States’ and the world’s headlines.

But the Kurds refuse to let their fight for freedom disappear from the headlines of the world, because life and liberty is not a single headline, but is a life and a belief worth fighting and even dying for. ‘Standing at Freedom’s Gate’ is joining ‘Coats4Kurdistan’ and its supporter and 0ne of the group’s creators, famed international opera star and Christian humanitarian Hallie Neill on Wednesday’s show.

Neill will share the challenges as well as the practical solutions that will assist the Kurds in their fight for their children, families and future.

Joining in on the discussion will be Lisa Ruth, former CIA analyst and Editor in Chief of Communities Digital News. She will bring her wealth and depth of information and experience to the conversation. Ruth like Neill fully understands what is at stake for the Kurds’ region as well as for America.

Recently, one Kurdish military official said it best in stating, “If ISIS is an existential threat as the Iraqis claim; and if it really threatens U.S. interests abroad and its security at home then more must be done to arm the Peshmerga,” reported Fox News. The Kurdish families and especially the children can be armed with coats, clothing as well.

Join in on Wednesday, January 7, with ‘Standing at Freedom’s Gate’ on the CommDigiNews Hour and see share your concerns by calling in or texting in and be a part of the Kurds’ fight for freedom…one coat at a time.
