China to open Consulate General in Erbil
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq, (KRG.org) - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani, yesterday received Mr. Tan Banglin, who has been appointed as the People's Republic of China’s first Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

Mr. Tan Banglin said a Chinese government delegation will visit Erbil soon to participate in the opening ceremony of the Chinese Consulate General in Erbil.

Describing Kurdistan Region as stable and secure, with prospect of further development, Mr. Tan Banglin said that China is eager to develop its relations with Kurdistan Region and take part in this development, particularly in the infrastructural, economic, commercial and cultural domains.

Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Mr. Banglin on his appointment and lauded China for opening its Consulate General in Erbil, which he described as a significant move.

China is the last permanent member of the United Nations Security Council to open its Consulate General in Erbil.

Prime Minister Barzani stressed that Kurdistan Region is eager to develop its relations with the People's Republic of China in all the domains.

The latest regional developments and Kurdistan Region’s relations with the Federal Government of Iraq were topics also discussed in the meeting.
