KRG Prime Minister receives the new Egyptian Consul to the Region
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq, (KRG.org) - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani, yesterday received the Egyptian new Consul to the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Omar Fahmi.

Mr. Fahmi stressed that the Arab Republic of Egypt gives importance to its relations with the Kurdistan Region, and it looks forward to further strengthen them, particularly in the economic and cultural domains.

He said, he will work to encourage Egyptian companies to work and invest in the Kurdistan Region and to provide assistance to students from the Kurdistan Region to pursue their education in Egypt.

Mr. Fahmi congratulated the Peshmerga forces on their recent victories in the war against the Islamic State terrorist organization, known as ISIS. He said that the government and people of Egypt hope that security and stability would return to the region in general and Kurdistan and Iraq in particular. He expressed Egypt’s readiness to provide support and assistance in this field.

On his part, Prime Minister Barzani congratulated the new Egyptian Consul for his nomination, wishing him success in his mission, stressing that the Kurdistan Regional Government will offer full cooperation and assistance for the success of his task.

The Egyptian Consul congratulated the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government of Iraq for the recent agreement reached between Erbil and Baghdad on oil export and budgetary issues, considering it as a positive step towards addressing all the differences between the two sides.
