NATO: Iraq will request help with training forces
Last week Iraq’s National Security Advisor Falih al-Fayyadh visited NATO headquarters in Brussels and held talks on ways to enhance NATO-Iraq cooperation, a statement on the coalition website said.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi informed NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at a meeting that Baghdad would lodge the request, NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu said.
NATO ambassadors will review the request, once the alliance receives it, she said.
