PM Barzani meets Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jibouri
Baghdad, Iraq, (KRG.org) - Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani and his accompanying delegation were received yesterday by the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Salim al-Jibouri, in Baghdad.

The Speaker of Iraq’s Parliament wished that the visit would be successful and hoped it would help address all the outstanding issues between Baghdad and Erbil.

Prime Minister Barzani reiterated that the delegation’s visit to Baghdad aims at settling all the issues between Erbil and Baghdad based on a realistic outlook of the situation. He expressed his satisfaction for the currently prevailing new and positive political atmosphere to address the differences.

Prime Minister Barzani pointed out that Iraq is going through very difficult circumstances, and terrorism has proved that “it does not differentiate between ethnic and religious components of Iraqi society, it targets them all. Everybody has the responsibility to combat terrorism.”

He also stressed that the Kurdistan Region is ready for cooperation and coordination with the relevant authorities in Iraq and the international coalition in order to combat terrorism.

Present in the meeting, a number of heads of parliamentary blocs of the Iraqi Parliament discussed the current situation and problems in Iraq and stressed the need to address problems in a way that it would serve the interests of both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. They also expressed their gratitude to the people and government of Kurdistan Region for the assistance they offered to the displaced persons and refugees.

Prime Minister Barzani reaffirmed that the people and government of the Kurdistan Region will not spare any efforts in helping the displaced persons, and have provided as much assistance to the displaced as possible and will continue to do so.
