KRG Spokesperson statement on Kurdistan Region delegation's visit to Baghdad
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (KRG.org) - A high-ranking delegation from the Kurdistan Regional government is expected to visit Baghdad tomorrow Sunday to hold talks with the Iraqi federal government. On this occasion, KRG Spokesperson, Safeen Dizayee, made the following statement to KRG.org:

Following the initial agreement reached between KRG Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani and Iraq's oil minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, earlier this month — marking the resumption of serious talks aiming at taking concrete steps to address the problems between Erbil and Baghdad — and on the basis of recommendations of Kurdistan Parliament and the negotiating committee, which comprises representatives from Kurdistan political parties, a KRG high-ranking delegation will visit Baghdad tomorrow.

The delegation will be headed by Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, who will be accompanied by KRG Deputy Prime Minister, the relevant ministers and a number of advisers

The Kurdistan Regional Government often expressed its desire to settle all the issues with Baghdad through dialogue based on mutual-understanding, and reach a satisfactory solution for all the sides and in the interest of all the parties. On the basis of our belief in this principle and following the positive atmosphere which appeared as the result of the initial agreement between the Prime Minister and Iraq's oil minister, the Kurdistan Region delegation will visit Baghdad tomorrow with a spirit of openness to dialogue and debate with the hope that the result of the talks will lead to mutual-understanding and agreement to settle all the issues.

We certainly do not expect to settle all the issues in one visit, but we hope that opening the door of dialogue would lead us to an agreement which is in the interest of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
