Muslim world must tackle Takfiri terror: Analyst
The Muslim world must urgently tackle the issue of Takfiri violence, which certain entities seek to use as a pretext to promote Islamophobia, says an analyst.

“It is about time that Muslim community started this discussion, and it has got two aspects; one is the internalization of Islamophobia and creation of otherness within the family of Islam, and the other side is actually those who created these Takfiri groups and funded, equipped and trained them, now actually trying to use these barbaric acts of them as a means of demonizing Islam as a whole,” Massoud Shadjareh, the head of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, said in an interview with Press TV from London.

“This whole thing needs to be tackled with a level of urgency within the Muslim community,” he said.

The remarks come as the World Congress on Extremist and Takfiri Movements in the Islamic Scholars’ View opened in the Iranian city of Qom on Sunday.

More than 600 Muslim scholars from over 80 countries are attending the two-day event and, according to reports, 40 percent of the participants are Shia and 60 percent of them are Sunni.

Shadjareh further noted that Takfiri groups are being “created and financed” by the West, adding that “the Muslims need to come together and actually deal with this rather than having others to come in to clean our house.”

The ISIL terrorists control large areas of Syria and Iraq. They have been carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations and crucifixions, against all communities in both neighboring states such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.
