Dohuk, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (Krp.org)- President Barzani received a United States government delegation headed by Mr. Tony Blinken, Deputy National Security Advisor. During the meeting President Barzani briefed the delegation with the latest development regarding the ongoing conflict with the terrorists of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, ISIS and elaborated on the advanced of the Peshmerga forces on a number of fronts against ISIS.

President Barzani also stated that the ISIS terrorist group is not a new phenomenon, rather it is a continuation of the previous attempts by al-Qaeda and other related terrorist groups in Iraq.

Mr. Blinken, on his part expressed his continued support on behalf of the government of the United States to the Kurdistan Region in general and its fight against ISIS in particular. Mr. Blinken added that the military cooperation between the United States and the Kurdistan Reion will continue for the sake of eradicating terrorists in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the larger region.
