Three Japanese-born researchers win Nobel Physics Prize
Three Japanese-born researchers -- Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura, who is currently based in the US -- won the Nobel Physics Prize Tuesday for inventing a new light source.

"This year's Nobel Laureates are rewarded for having invented a new energy-efficient and environment-friendly light source -- the blue light-emitting diode (LED)," the jury said.
