Statement by Prime Minister Barzani regarding the killing of British citizen Alan Henning
Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq (KRG.org) - Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani's statement:

“When a volunteer leaves his job, family, and loved ones to travel to a far away country in order to help displaced and wounded people, we all celebrate him or her. This is what British citizen Alan Henning did.

He left his work as a taxi driver, his wife Barbara, his two children, his relatives and friends, and the comfort of life in Salford to aid refugees and displaced people in Syria. He was abducted at the end of 2013 and has now been beheaded by the terrorists of the so-called Islamic State. This brutal and barbaric act once again demonstrates the true nature of these terrorists, revealing their lack of humanity.

We in the Kurdistan Region are saddened once again, as we were when aid worker David Haines was the first British citizen beheaded by these evil forces around us. We have been through this kind of suffering and we know how difficult it is, as such inhuman acts are perpetrated against these innocent people solely because of who they are and not because of what they have done. We extend our thoughts and condolences to the families of the victims and to the British people.

We will remember Alan Henning, David Haines, Steven Sotloff, Jim Foley, and all of our innocent victims of the so-called Islamic State and other violent and brutal terrorist groups. With our partners, we will do all we can to bring these murderers to justice.”
