In Syria and Iraq, the Islamic State organisation now controls many of the towns that line the banks of the region's main rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates, although it no longer controls the strategic Mosul dam. FRANCE 24’s Adam Pletts travelled to the northern Iraqi town of Makhmour, where water is still scare because of the jihadists, despite the town being retaken by Kurdish forces.
