Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani welcomed Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil in Salahddin today. The Lebanese foreign minister expressed his country’s solidary with the government and people of the Kurdistan Region in the fight against terrorism.

They discussed bilateral relations between Lebanon and the Kurdistan Region and the need for the international support for the KRG in its fight against terrorism and in coping with hosting more than 1 million IDPs from Mosul and elsewhere who have sought refuge in Kurdistan.

The President and the Lebanese foreign minister also discussed the plight of Yezidi and Christian minorities after the recent attacks by the ISIS terrorists in Ninawa province and the large numbers of them who have also fled to Kurdistan.
