Erbil, Kurdistan (KRG.org) – Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani yesterday welcomed a delegation comprised of representatives of the blocs of the Kurdistan Parliament.

At the outset of the meeting, the visiting delegation congratulated the Council of Ministers and the Prime Minister on the formation of the eighth cabinet, wishing them success. The Members of Parliament also restated their desire for close cooperation and coordination between the parliament and the government in order to provide better services to the people of the Kurdistan Region.

The Prime Minister welcomed the visiting delegation, expressing his gratitude for the visit. He reiterated that the parliament’s supervision and follow-up of governmental activities would encourage the government to continue its productivity and provide a higher quality of services to its citizens. He also stressed that it is a national unity government and that the parliament can play a key role in controlling and monitoring the government’s activities effectively.

The two sides pointed to the importance of the current stage and events taking place in the Kurdistan Region. They said that this stage requires the best possible cooperation and coordination between the relevant authorities and institutions in Kurdistan in order to ensure that all parties are working together to provide maximum stability, security, and quality services to citizens. All institutions must work together to tackle the ongoing problems and crises affecting the Region.

In the meeting, the deeply troubling situation of displaced Christians from Mosul seeking refuge in the Kurdistan Region was also discussed. In this regard, Prime Minister Barzani indicated that the KRG will do its utmost to provide relief and assistance to the displaced and will work diligently with the international community and United Nations agencies to provide all possible assistance and aid to the displaced.
