The KRG seventh cabinet holds its final session
Erbil, Kurdistan (KRG.org) - The Kurdistan Regional Government’s seventh cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Imad Ahmed, yesterday held its final meeting.

The Prime Minister noted the seventh cabinet’s achievements, including political security and stability in the Kurdistan Region, and praised the efforts of the cabinet members.

He particularly expressed gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister Imad Ahmed, noting the important role that he played and praising his work and his contributions in administrative matters. The Prime Minister added that Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed’s work has left a significant imprint in many areas of the Region. The outgoing Deputy Prime Minister will now take up commitments with his political party.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed his hope that the ministers of the seventh cabinet appointed to the eighth cabinet will continue working hard for the Region. He is pleased by the decision of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to nominate Minister Qubad Talabani as the next Deputy Prime Minister. He also emphasized the importance of continuity as one cabinet wraps up its activities and the next begins.

The Prime Minister said, “I would like to extend my gratitude to all of you for the work that you have done and all that you have achieved. I say with confidence that you have made important contributions in the service of Kurdistan. It is true that we could not accomplish everything, but I am sure that we have achieved a great deal and I wish each and every one of you continued success.”

He pointed out that the eighth cabinet will mark a new phase of governance, another model of governance. He also apologized to ministers if their work led to stress or difficult throughout their tenure, but said that the ministers can make key contributions even outside of the government.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for sharing confidence and responsibilities as well as continuous support during his time in office. He said that working with the Prime Minister gave him self-confidence and made it easier for him to progress. He said, “I will do my best, with complete loyalty, to serve Kurdistan wherever I am.” He also lauded the Prime Minister’s long-term vision, determination, and sincerity in dealing with crises and issues of strategic importance, wishing him and the forthcoming cabinet great success.

Ministers discussed their work and the activities of their ministries, thanking the Prime Minister and the outgoing Deputy Prime Minister.

At the close of the meeting, incoming Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani said, “I am proud and privileged to be nominated for this position, and I hope that I can continue the work of my predecessor, Imad Ahmed, and help the Region in close cooperation with the Prime Minister.” He thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for his assistance and support and explained that he would rely on this support in the future as well.
