After the events in Mosul and the areas neighboring the Kurdistan Region, and as a result of the collapse of the Iraqi army, a security vacuum has been created and a large number of the people of the Ninewa province have headed to the areas under the control of the Peshmerge forces. Kurdistan Region Peshmerga forces have been deployed to areas abandoned by the Iraqi army in order to protect the people of Kurdistan, ethnic and religious communities in these areas, public institutions, and to fill the vacuum.

I call on the Asayish and Peshmerga forces to protect the Kurdistan boundaries and the livelihoods of the people of these areas and to prevent any violations and abuses.

We also reassure our people that our Peshmerga and security forces will not let the security of Kurdistan to be jeopardized in any way.
