Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani met with Egypt’s Industry and Foreign Trade Minister, Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour.

In their meeting, the Egyptian minister said that along with an Egyptian government and business delegation, they are in Kurdistan to participate in the annual Erbil International Fair, and to explore opportunities to expand trade and investment cooperation between the two sides.

President Barzani warmly welcomed this visit and assured the visiting delegation that the KRG is equally interested in fostering closer ties with Egypt. He added that Egypt has historically stood by the struggle of the Kurdish people to gain their rights, and this will help both sides to establish strong relations.


The President and the Egyptian minister also talked about the recent terrorist attack in Erbil, and the recent parliamentary elections held in Kurdistan. Mr. Abdel Nour congregated the people of Kurdistan for holding successful elections.
