A college of Petroleum Science reportedly planed to be open in Iraqi Kurdistan this year. Students who finished high school successfully can apply right after and participate in oil studies program.

Despite the fact that most famous oil companies in the world are operating in Iraqi Kurdistan, the study of the field is very new to the region and most workers in petroleum departments are foreigners.

Local authorities in the region are paying more attention to petroleum science in recent years. University of Kurdistan-Hawler, one of the most successful universities in the region has its own oil engineering department since 2011.
