Jalal Talabani expresses his condolence over the death of Bushra Assad's husband
In a letter to Bushra Assad, Bashar Assad's sister, President of Iraq Jalal Talabani expresses his sympathy and condolence over the death of Bushra's husband, Assef Shawkat.
" I express my deepest sympathy for you (Bushra Assad) and your familly in the loss of your husband.God Bless him", the Iraqi President wrote.
A suside Bombing in Damascus on Wednesday killed the Syrian defense minister and President Bashar al-Assad's brother-in-law.
Assad's brother-in-law Assef Shawkat, a top commander and one of the pillars of the Assad clan's rule, was killed in the blast along with Defense Minister Daoud Rajha.
Another senior general also was killed and the heads of intelligence and the Interior Ministry were wounded, deeply damaging the security apparatus of the Assad family, which has ruled the country with an iron fist for four decades.
The Iraqi president's condolence letter came out in a time that foreign ministers of U.S., France and Britain indirectly expressed their countries' pleasant feel about the event.
Iran however condemned yesterday's attack on his best ally's top officials, called it as a "terrorist acts".
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly condemned violence and resorting to destructive measures, and believes that the only way of resolving the current crisis in Syria is through talks... “a foreign ministry statement published by Mehr news agency said.
